Breakdown:
BEAST is the new default 3rd oscillator that transforms your Minilogue XD / Prologue synth into a vintage sounding 4-oscillator analog behemoth.
The optimized curve, harmonic, gain and phase architecture of the main and sub oscillators always produce the fattest tone possible. It reliably adds so much weight at high levels that it will push the analog mixer and filter well beyond the normal limits, creating actual analog saturation that isn't otherwise possible.
If somehow that's still not enough beefyness, you also have a dedicated analog-style SATURATOR parameter, or crank it up as an EXCITER instead for extra presence.
With a simple turn of the SHAPE knob you have access to all of the classic analog waveforms. Each are modeled closely after the curve and harmonic structure of classic synths like the Minimoog, SEM and ARP synthesizers. These base waveshapes are NOISE, SINE, TRI, SHARKTOOTH, SAW, RAMP, STAIRSTEP, SQUARE, PULSE (PWM). But since the SHAPE parameter is continuous you can dial in any in-between shapes just as easily.
A meaty SUB oscillator allows further shaping into the perfect phase-optimized fundamental for any patch. Add it as a SINE or SQUARE lower octave, or create the perfect combined tone fundamental (SHARK-SQUARE, SAW-SINE, PULSE-SQUARE... etc) when set to the same octave as the main oscillator. Unlock the phase sync between the main and sub oscillators by using the PHASE WARBLE parameter to produce highly dynamic internal detune and loads of variable character.
Add further vintage drift with semi-random PITCH WARBLE, from gentle instability to lo-fi broken.
Use the internal VIRTUAL LFO on it's own or combined with the hardware LFO to add further variation and character, from classic PWM to any imagineable waveshape modulation spanning across the spectrum of available waveforms.
Find the perfect pitch in a snap, or detune against the existing oscillators by tuning -12/+12 semitones with SHIFT+SHAPE, just like you would with the normal oscillators.

BEAST was originally slated for release around late October to early November 2024. Unfortunately right near the end I suddenly became quite sick and it took a while to fully recover and be well enough to finish the task. The hardest part was going from working on BEAST every day, to suddenly not looking at a single line of code. It's amazing how quickly all of that information in your head just flies away, leaving you staring at something you can barely recognize.
During my recovery I relied on my ever-present best friend and sweet little girl Sibby to keep me calm and moving forward as I was gradually getting back up to speed both mentally and physically. I knew she'd be there for me as she always has in the past.
Unfortunately right as I was finally ready to release BEAST we got a sudden shock when we discovered Sibby had a large mass on her liver that had probably been growing for some time.
For a while we didn't know how to process the sudden unknown. But fortunately we have been able to get her the best care possible and have every hope for a good outcome, for which we are incredibly thankful. However, in doing so we have almost completely burned through our financial savings.
Platinum Audiolab is basically a very small family business. For the last 12 years or so it's been just the three of us: myself, my partner Angela, and our sweet little assistant Sibby - always nearby, keeping us sane and in high spirits.
Right now Sibby needs us to return the favor of healing and care she's given us so many times in the past. UPDATE: Thanks to the amazing Dr. VanDeventer and her staff at Boundary Bay Vet Hospital, Sibby had a successful operation to remove the large mass from her liver (somehow it was hiding away while the size of a grapefruit!). She has already recovered her appetite and most of her puppy-energy, and bounced back so fast that we actually have to slow her down! Pretty amazing to see. She may be little but clearly has the will and determination...
